While you may be eligible for the latest 2026 exam windows, it is recommended to target November 2026 or May 2027 for Level II.

Level II is significantly more application-oriented than Level I and requires candidates to analyse item-set vignettes rather than answer standalone questions. You should give yourself adequate preparation time for a better and stronger outcome than rushing into the next available attempt.

If you appeared for CFA Level II in May 2026, your earliest eligible re-attempt is the November 2026 exam window.

November 2026: Standard registration closes on 11 August 2026. The standard registration fee is $1,490, excluding applicable local taxes.

May 2027: Early registration opens 12 August 2026 at $1,140 and closes on 14 October 2026. Standard Registration closes on 10th February 2027. Standard Registration fee is $1,490.

Before registering, review your topic-wise performance to understand whether the gap came from weak concepts, difficulty interpreting vignettes, time pressure, or insufficient practice. Build a study plan around the areas that cost you marks. Choose November only if you have enough time to prepare differently.

The Minimum Passing Score (MPS) is the score threshold determined by CFA Institute for a particular exam administration.

CFA Institute does not publish the exact MPS, and it can vary from one exam window to another. Your result depends on whether your overall performance exceeds the MPS, not on achieving a fixed percentage such as 70%.

CFA Level II does not have essay or written-answer questions. It consists of 88 multiple-choice questions grouped into 22 case-based item sets, called vignettes.

Unlike Level I’s standalone MCQs, Level II requires you to read a short case and answer related questions by applying the concepts given in it.
